UIB Newsletter NR. 62010-04-14 16:52MEETING OF THE COMMISSION “ORGANISATION” The Commission “Organisation” held a meeting in Budapest on 22nd February in order to discuss various topics with relation to the operation mode of our International Bakery Union. Chaired by Vice President ILONKA, the countries of Sweden, Finland, Holland and Poland, as well as the President and Secretary General of the UIB attended the meeting. The structure and regularity of our meetings were discussed in order to make them more interesting and reach the largest possible number of member countries attending them; for the purpose of which a proposal to modify the Bylaws will be presented at Crete. Also, the results of the questionnaire regarding the expectations and the regulation of the awards granted by the UIB were analyzed. Finally, localization and sponsorships for International Competitions were discussed. In Crete, we will present the Commissions’ proposals in detail.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN BUDAPEST At the same time as the meeting of the Commission “Organisation”, the celebration of the HUNGEXPO trade show and the UIPCG Championship, an International Bakery Conference was held in Budapest, where representatives from Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Finland, Holland and Poland presented reports on the structure of the bakery sector in their corresponding countries. Also, the President of the Arti&Mestieri Club presented a report on the development of marketing trends in the Italian bakery and pastry sector During the Conference, the President of the National Slovakian Baker Federation announced his wish to join the UIB.
Club Arti&Mestieri, an Italian promotion association organizes Sigep Bread Cup and Sigep Pastry Forum. This is a championship where you do not feel stress or competition, bakers and pastry chefs that compete in the Sigep Bread Cup mainly wish to compare themselves with other cultures and swap information on recipes, ingredients and tastes. This year the competition was between Australia, Slovenia, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Israel and Hungary which won this edition. Good relationships have also been maintained with other countries such as Ireland, Belgium and France. Bakers and pastry chefs make requests to join the club and to receive recipes or only to keep in touch with the Club’s friends. This year the competition was won by Hungary: a strong, passionate, studious and simple team having an important bread tradition which is still present and alive in this country. The Hungarian bakers Roland Tuckacs, Miklos Janko, Norbert Harsi, Zoltan Tako got the first prize for the artistic bread, innovative bread and cake categories and thus won the Championship 2010. Special thanks to UIB, in the person of Boldiszar Ilonka, who attended the championship as professional juror. On this occasion he presented UIB to an audience from 10 different countries. Dialogue with UIB started a couple of years ago when Bert Kolkmann, then-president was invited to know the event. |
